Either intimidated by oudors or fearful or germs, there are expats who avoid using local public toilets at all costs. A few have developed bladder or urinary tract infections as a result. Keep in mind that hundres of thousands of beijingers use these facilies every day. For expats who have trouble with the smell, momentarily breathing trhrough the mouth might diminish tthe strong outdoor.
